On the occasion of his birthday, Trent (the storyteller) has a drink, a smoke and cleans house. Feeling older, but not wiser, unable to make sense of his cluttered surroundings and faced with a major decision, one desperate, Black, middle-aged New Yorker drags his memories to the curb for closer examination.
